Freet

Comprehensive reviews of Freet barefoot shoes — Feldom, Calver, Keld, Howgill, and more. Ethical UK brand, wide and deep fit, zero drop.

Wide AND Deep — the Fit That Others Miss

Most barefoot brands will give you a wide toe box. Freet goes further — their shoes are wide and deep. That's the key differentiator, and it matters more than you'd think. If you've tried barefoot shoes from other brands and felt pressure on top of your toes or across the bridge of your foot, Freet's high-volume fit is likely the answer.

They're a small, ethical UK brand — based in Yorkshire, which I'll admit gives me a soft spot. Zero drop across the entire lineup, with 60% natural rubber outsoles on select models. No flash, no hype, just shoes that fit wide, deep feet properly.

The Lineup

Freet's strength is on trail. The Feldom 2 is the star — scored 9/10 as a do-it-all trail shoe with excellent grip for muddy terrain and an improved upper over the original. The Calver is the mud specialist — 6mm MountainGrip lugs in 60% natural rubber give it the most aggressive traction in the lineup. The Howgill blends casual and trail for lighter days. And the Keld 2 is the lightweight budget option at just 215g and $95 — excellent ground feel for light trails.

On road, the Vibe 2 is the main option — a comfortable, bouncy shoe for casual use, tempo workouts, and gym sessions. The Skeeby adds a more forgiving casual option for everyday wear.

Who Freet Suits

Freet is the brand for runners with wide and deep feet who've been let down by other barefoot shoes. If you have high-volume feet — wide through the toes, wide through the midfoot, with depth on top — this is your brand. They also work well for UK and EU runners who want a local, ethical option with reasonable shipping.

If your feet are narrow or shallow, Freet won't work — you'll swim in them. For narrow feet, Xero Shoes or Vivobarefoot are better fits. And if you need the widest road running lineup, Altra covers more ground on tarmac.

Prices range from $95 to $120 across the lineup — competitive for the barefoot market. Use code BRR10 for 10% off.
